Mission
The mission of the VA's Office of Mental Health services is to maintain and improve the health and well-being of Veterans through excellence in health care, social services, education, and research. In support of this mission, the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System offers an extensive array of Mental Health Services to Veterans at each of its facilities including the Corpus Christi VA Outpatient Clinic, Harlingen VA Outpatient Clinic, the Health Care Center at Harlingen, Laredo VA Outpatient Clinic, and the McAllen VA Outpatient Clinic.
About the Program
The Mental Health Service program at the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System provides consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact health and emotional well-being. The services described below are available to all eligible Veterans as well as to family or significant others, adjunctive to the effective treatment of the Veteran. The VCB Mental Health Staff take pride in providing all services with respect and compassion for the Veteran and his/her family. A holistic approach is utilized to provide all Veterans with a comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan in accordance with the principles of recovery-oriented care. In addition to clinical services, VCB Mental Health staff also engage in research and training to ensure state-of-the-art treatment.

- Troublesome Thoughts or Ideas
- Aggressive or Self-Harming Behaviors
- Memory Impairment
We also provide outreach to homeless and justice-involved Veterans.

Mental health services are confidential. We will not talk to anyone about information you share unless you give written consent. Under federal law, a few exceptions to this rule exist. If you have questions, please ask your mental health consultant.
