Visitor Information

As a patient or visitor to our health care system, we want to make sure you have all the information you need before you arrive.

Our Health Care System

Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (TVCBHCS) is comprised of one Healthcare Center (providing Outpatient Surgery) located in Harlingen, four Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in Harlingen, McAllen, Corpus Christi and Laredo, and two Specialty Care Clinics located in Corpus Christi and Harlingen (inside the Healthcare Center). TVCBHCS serves 20 counties and is part of the VA Heart of Texas Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 17).  TVCBHCS has more than 700 employees and provides health care services for a Veteran population of 96,280 with more than 38,047 enrolled users and more than 30,839 unique users.

Parking is located directly adjacent to all of our Outpatient Clinics.  Please be aware of any designated parking signs.  The Healthcare Care Center at Harlingen has a parking garage directly next to the facility.  Please enter the garage from the side nearest the main entrance to the facility.  The parking garage is equipped with an elevator.  There is no charge or display required for parking in the garage but we ask that patients and visitors park on the lower two levels while employees park on the upper three levels.

Police Service

Our VA Police Service officers provide patrols of all VA facilities and parking lots.  The Police Office is located immediately next to the main entrance inside our facilities.  In case of an emergency, dial ext. 69911 from inside the facility. Please report all suspicious or criminal activity, vehicle accidents, and personal property losses to the VA Police while on the facility grounds as soon as possible.  Because VA facilities are federal property, all persons and bags are subject to search. In addition, no weapons, alcohol, or illegal drugs are permitted.

Lost and Found

For lost and found, please check with volunteer or information desk located at each facility.

Smoking Policy

TVCBHCS and its facilities are smoke-free. Smoking by employees, visitors, service organization representatives, vendors, contract workers, volunteers, and patients is prohibited inside any of our facilities.  Smoking is prohibited at all main entrances.  There are designated smoking areas located outside of the facilities.

Canteen and Vending

There is a Starbucks® Coffee Shop and Veteran Canteen Service retail store located on the first floor of the Healthcare Center at Harlingen near the main entrance.  All of the outpatient clinics have vending machines located near the main entrance.
