Members of the media, Veterans and community service organizations are welcome to contact the Office of Public Affairs for any inquiries at 956-291-9340.

Attention, VA events are typically open to the general public event. Video and photographs may be taken by VA staff and local news media for use in broadcasts, publications and postings on social media. Individuals in attendance are exclusively responsible for informing staff capturing photos or video if they do not want to be photographed or recorded.

Additionally please note some of these public events are being held in a facility within U.S. federal government jurisdiction. In such cases members of the media must obtain prior VA authorization for capturing video, images and voice recordings within the VA grounds or facilities. As previously mentioned, individuals in attendance are exclusively responsible for informing staff capturing photos or video if they do not want to be photographed or recorded.

VCB to host Women Veterans Town Hall

HARLINGEN, Texas —VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VCB) is scheduled to host a Women Veterans Town Hall at the VA Health Care Center at Harlingen, Texas, (HCC) on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.

The town hall will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the health care center (HCC) located at 2601 Veterans Boulevard, Harlingen, Texas 78550.

All Women Veterans are invited to attend. This is an opportunity to voice their opinion, find out what’s new in Women's Health and what’s new in the health care system. It will also serve as an opportunity to learn about the creation of the Women Veterans Advisory Committee.

VCB to schedules VA Town Hall for Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas —VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VCB) in collaboration with the Nueces County Veteran Services Department is scheduled to host a VA town hall for Veterans in the Corpus Christi area.

The town hall will take place Thursday, November 15, 2018, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Dell Mar College Center for Economic Development located at 3209 South Staples Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78411.

This event is aimed at soliciting constructive feedback from Veterans on how we can improve our operations. Media is invited, however, due to Veterans privacy concerns, media members are asked not to record or photograph inside the meeting room without prior consent.

VCB to host special event for Native American Heritage Month

HARLINGEN, Texas -- VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VCB) is planning to host a special event in observance Native American Heritage Month.

The special event featuring dancers and a drum circle performance by members of the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas is scheduled to take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018, outside the main entrance to the Harlingen VA Outpatient Clinic located on 2106 Treasure Hills Boulevard, Harlingen, Texas 78550.

This is one many events and activities by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs scheduled to take place as part of the agency’s nation-wide observance of National Native American Heritage Month, which among many things focuses on raising awareness about the service and sacrifice of Native American Veterans that spans nearly two and a half centuries of American history.  Native American have served in the U.S. armed forces in every major conflict since the Revolutionary War and according to the U.S. Department of Defense, American Indians and Alaska Natives have one of the highest representations in the military.

VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VCB) is scheduled to host My HealtheVet (MHV) Training Sessions for Veterans in the Laredo area from the 19th of November through the 21st.  

My HealtheVet Training offered for Veterans in Laredo

LAREDO, Texas — VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VCB) is scheduled to host My HealtheVet (MHV) Training Sessions for Veterans in the Laredo area.

The training sessions are scheduled to take place November 19 through the 21st at the Laredo VA Outpatient Clinic located at 4602 North Bartlett, Laredo, Texas 78041. Below are the specific dates and times for the five training sessions.

Monday, November 19   from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 pm 

Tuesday, November 20 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 pm 

Wednesday, November 21 from 8 to 9:30 am.

These training sessions will help Veterans enroll and understand how to use the My HealtheVet platform. This is a web based system used by Veterans which enable them to contact their medical staff team, re-order prescriptions, and a number of other tasks. The sessions will also serve as an opportunity for Veterans to upgrade to a Premium account, which gives My HealtheVet users the highest level of access to My HealtheVet features.

Space is limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Veterans who would like to create a My HealtheVet account can register online by searching My HealtheVet Registration on their Internet browser or visiting: https://www.myhealth.va.gov/web/myhealthevet/user-registration
