VA helps Community Providers with Claims Process
VA’s community care providers play a critical role in making sure Veterans get the right care, at the right time, from the right provider. As part of its efforts to improve services for Veterans, VA developed this video, “Community Care Claims Process,” that explains the community care claims submission process and provides suggestions on ways to help community providers receive prompt payment for the services they provide to Veterans.
The two-minute video walks through how authorizations are issued by VA, discusses the differences between individual community care programs and how claims should be submitted depending on which program was used to authorize the care. In addition, the video provides tips on the best way to submit claims (electronically) and how to avoid having a claim denied or rejected. Providers are also encouraged to check VA’s Vendor Inquiry System (VIS) at https://www.vis.fsc.va.gov to check on the status of a claim. Registration to use this service is required.
VA continues to look for ways to improve how care and services are delivered to Veterans through its community care programs. Ultimately, VA’s goal is to build a community care program that is simple to understand, easy to administer and meets the needs of Veterans and their families, community providers and VA staff.
