Mr. Junius Dural, Women Veteran Program

Mr. Junius Dural, Women Veterans Program Manager, VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System.

Wednesday, June 29, 2011

The new VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VATVCBHCS) recently made history as the newest VA Health Care System to be activated in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in 2010.  Now, the VATVCBHCS is pleased to announce the appointment of the first male Women Veteran Program Manager for the system, another milestone in the history of VA.

Mr. Junius Dural is a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and Operation Enduring Freedom/ Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF) Veteran.  Following a twenty year career in the military as a nurse practitioner, he retired in 2010.  He has served in the following roles; staff nurse, primary care clinician, Department Head, Division Officer, and Officer in Charge of two Troop Medical clinics in a combat zone while deployed with an expeditionary medical force in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Mr. Dural accepted a clinical position at the VATVCBHCS Corpus Christi Outpatient Clinic (CCOPC) in June 2010 as a primary care nurse practitioner and has continued to excel in all aspects of patient care.  After a rigorous and thorough recruitment process, Mr. Dural was ultimately selected as the VATVCBHCS Women Veteran’s Health Program Manager.

Women are fastest growing group within the Veteran population today, making them nearly 11.5% of the entire OEF/OIF Veteran population.  “With this growth, it is imperative that we have a dedicated program manager focused on ensuring the VATVCBHCS is providing the best care to our Women Veteran’s” said Mr. Jeff Milligan, Director of the VATVCBHCS.  “We are very fortunate to have an experienced clinician of Mr. Dural’s caliber on our team.  His years of hands on experience in working with our Women Veterans will allow him to further develop our new system’s Women Veterans’ Health program – we are energized to have him on board!”
