My HealtheVet Coordinator Takes On-the-Road Approach to Training
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Elliott Moore, a My HealtheVet Coordinator in the Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VCB), received a standing ovation at the end of a training event he recently held in Corpus Christi, Texas. Thanks to his lessons, the 55 Veterans and 27 family caregivers in attendance are now empowered to use the online health portal’s many tools.
Moore, who served in the Navy for more than 25 years, says he now finds fulfillment in teaching Veterans about My HealtheVet and how it can help them take a more active role in their health care journey.
“Many Veterans had no idea that they could send Secure Messages to their VA care teams, download and share their medical records, refill their prescriptions online, or get reminders about upcoming appointments,” he said. “I personally love teaching and training Veterans and their family members on how to improve their quality of life using the tremendous My HealtheVet tool.”
Moore said additional My HealtheVet outreach training events are planned. The next one will be held in Laredo, Texas, on Aug. 31. Read the Connected Care Messenger blog to learn more about Moore’s on-the-road approach to My HealtheVet training.
